Its been a good week, starting with working my last shift of home health nursing which is where I go visit people in their homes who are dying and needless to say is not my favorite type of nursing, but a good experience. Then Alicia came over and we spent about 3 hours exchanging music with one another which I am super excited about listening to. I met up with an old friend from high school who I haven't seen since and that was a lot of fun because we used to get along really well back in the day so it was neat to catch up.
Last night I went on a date with a gentleman that we will refer to as Moneybags. He picked me up at my place (which I like when a guy does but did feel bad because I am a little out of the way). I came outside to see him in his super sexy car which I was informed was an Aston Martin (and apparently a big deal). Which was amazing except for the fact that I don't often ride in *i don't even have a clue as to a guess how much this car would be worth* kind of cars so I literally had to get him to talk me through opening the door. What kind of car doesn't have door handles!
Now even though I really don't care about nice cars, I have to admit that cruising down the highway in this car with the top down going reeeeeeeeally reeeeeeeeeally fast was pretty fun.
He took me downtown to one of his favorite places which was a very posh lounge that we sat at and had a drink and chatted. Although I did not appreciate his constant talk about all of his accomplishments and money, he was actually a really interesting guy. He started talking about how he is having a quarterlife crisis because he is only 26 and he has already achieved/done everything he could have ever wanted in excess and feels like there is nothing left for him to do. It was very intriguing for me to hear a 26 year old multimillionaire talk about being so unsatisfied with his life but in a way it made a lot of sense. Which is why I stick to the belief that money does not bring happiness!
PS he bought his CAT an ipad. Nobody needs that much money. And don't ask me what he does because I have no idea. He explained it to me but it was a bunch of business mumbo jumbo that I just nodded and pretended to understand.
From here we went to a comedy club which his hotel was right beside so he wanted to park there and as we walked through the hotel it was completely crazy because all of the staff greeted him by name and would have literally done absolutely anything for him. It was like he was a celebrity. It was a very strange feeling.
The comedy club was super fun and in my opinion a fantastic date idea! After that he wanted to take to me to an arcade but unfortunately it was closed when we got there. We went to another lounge and chatted some more and then we headed back. He dropped me off at home and we said goodbye, and he leaned over and gave me a kiss on both cheeks. He asked me out again but I haven't decided yet.
It was definitely fun but I just don't know about Moneybags and his numerous bags of Money.
An IPad for a cat?! Surely this man has more money than sense! Not necessarily a bad thing I suppose...;)
Haha Thanks for the picture
Can't stand when people talk about their financial situation that much. Me no likey Mr. Moneybags!
Even though all the talk about money and the overwhelming 'money, money, money' (by ABBA) vibe is a definite turn off, I reckon you should give the guy a chance.
As you said, money doesn't buy you happiness- and the guy seems interesting and slightly at a crossroads with his life. Perhaps all the money and showboating is a coping mechanism?
Why don't you go out, but how about you plan the date? Make it something fun and lighthearted- perhaps not so much a posh lounge? How about the park or maybe yes, the arcade to do dance dance revolution? Or paintball!
Something fun, something silly and something young: something Mr. Moneybags isn't in his comfort zone about.
Perhaps you'll discover an interesting side of him to counter the not so great bits. :)
Give him a chance, I say.
How about you drop his ass but steal his car? Cos it's a nice car. Or tell him to buy a Zonda. Because you're not rich till you have a Zonda.
If you're already sorta bored of him talking about money, it's only going to get worse? And would the benefits reach you? I mean, is he going to buy himself all kinds of fun stuff and get you a hairband from CVS?
xx
thanks for the advice! :) i think i will put things on hold for now
Hmm....
I've been where you are m'love. How old is he? Because if he's much older (as I'm one to target) there might definitely be a problem.
On the other hand.. why did he ask you out? Does he know you and is he interested in you? or does he just think you're cute?
I'm really interested to hear more about this! And by the way, that dude is driving one of my dream cars! haha.
I think we can definitely exchange stories. ;)
